When you hire the firm of Black & Graham, you aren’t simply hiring an attorney - you are also hiring a group of highly experienced paralegals that each bring a different expertise to your case.
The paralegal team at Black & Graham consists of Rebekah Gostnell, Senior Paralegal, who works alongside our family law attorneys and also ensures each case is handled timely and appropriately; Amy Oberholser, who works with our veteran defense lawyers; and Laura Mundell and Jennifer Leyba, who all support our family law associates.
While each client is assigned one of our paralegals upon retention, all our paralegals are able to collaborate as a team to ensure that Court imposed deadlines are always met, and that your legal matters continue to be handled regardless of who is scheduled to be in on any given day.
Our Senior Paralegal, Rebekah, has over 15 years of experience. She specializes in discovery, which means that she reviews and organizes hundreds, sometimes thousands of pages of financial documents (Interrogatories: C.R.C.P. 16.2(f), 26 and 33 /  C.R.C.P. 16.2, 26, 33, 121 §1-12 / FORM 35.4 and Request for Production of Documents: C.R.C.P. 16.2, 26 and 34 / C.R.C.P. 16.2, 34, 121 §1-12 / FORM 35.5). She also specializes in matters involving children, and high conflict cases. Rebekah has worked closely with each of our family law attorneys, but typically supports our family law associate Jennifer Helland.
Laura has been a paralegal for over 16 years, and specializes in tackling sworn financial statements (C.R.C.P. 16.2(e) / FORM 35.2).  Laura has successfully completed hundreds of financial statements with assets ranging anywhere from hundreds to millions of dollars. Like Rebekah, Laura has supported each of our family law attorneys, but you’ll usually work closely with her if you have retained Jennifer Knies as your attorney.
Amy is our Criminal Defense Paralegal with over 15 years of legal experience and 8 years as a Paralegal. Her many years of criminal law experience gives her a vast knowledge of both prosecutorial and criminal defense methods and strategy.  Amy specializes in Petitions to Seal, which means that she can work closely with the attorney to determine whether a client is eligible to seal his/her case under the following Colorado Revised Statutes:  Sealing of Arrest and Criminal Records: 24-72-308; Sealing of Criminal Conviction Records: 24-72-308.5; Expungement of Juvenile Records: 19-1-306; Sealing Underage Drinking and Driving: 42-4-1715 and Sealing Underage Alcohol: 18-13-122(10).  Amy also has knowledge in Family Law, so it is not uncommon for her to have an active family case in addition to her regular defense case load. Amy supports all our defense associates, including senior defense partner Clifton Black, and associate Aaron Gaddis.
Jennifer is currently enrolled in college at Pikes Peak Community College to obtain her degree in paralegal studies, and brings in the most current legal research techniques and paralegal practices, helping to keep all of us current on various paralegal skills. Jennifer teams up with our family law attorney Kelly McPherson.
The Black and Graham team pools all our knowledge and expertise in these areas to give you the benefit of our 50+ years of collective paralegal experience. So while hiring an attorney is an important decision, the support of paralegals to the attorneys is also beneficial to review. Paralegals who are highly experienced and are able to work as a team on your case is exactly what you will get when hiring Black & Graham.

Have a CO defense or family law case? Black & Graham can help.
